Bamford Academy Community Forum

Terms of Reference

to be read in conjunction with the constitution which is the legal and accounting framework for BACF.

 

All parents, carers and teachers of children at Bamford Academy are automatically members of the BACF. Our meetings, events and Whats App group are open to everyone who wishes to join in.

We hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September, at the start of the school year. At this meeting a committee is elected to run the BACF consisting of a Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer and a Secretary.  The Principal and two additional members of staff, teaching or non teaching are members of the Forum Committee and all consultation with the school is through them.  Despite our roles (which are in accordance with national PTA rules) we are an informal group with a goal of trying to make fundraising fun and improve communications throughout the Bamford Community.

BACF as a whole usually meets every other week and we set up smaller working groups to organise individual events.

 

Aim of the BACF

To raise funds to improve and enhance the educational and social experiences of Bamford Academy children, their teachers and their families.

To provide practical support for events and activities in school.

 

Communication

BACF communicates with parents through email updates and What’s App, the BACF page on the school website, the school Facebook notice board and through the weekly Newsletter (sent by the school).  Dates of meetings are published on the school calendar, the Newsletter and on the BACF page of the school website.  Meeting minutes are kept on the BACF Page of the school website.

 

Fundraising

BACF raises money by organising and managing various fundraisers throughout the school year. The money raised by the BACF is used to purchase educational tools, playground equipment, classroom supplies and is also used to pay for special events for the children which the school would otherwise not be able to afford.

 

The following areas fall outside of the remit of the BACF:

  • Issues relating to confidentiality
  • School management
  • Curriculum or time-tabling
  • Staff selection or appointment
  • School hours or holidays
  • School Budget
  • Specific circumstances of individuals
