Thinking of applying for a place at Bamford Academy? We are a two-form entry primary school in Bamford, Rochdale, for children aged 4–11 and part of Altus Education Partnership. Ofsted confirmed in March 2023 that we continue to be a good school.
This page explains how to apply, key information for Reception and in-year applications, and how to visit us before you decide.
How to apply
Applications for primary school places in Rochdale are made online through Rochdale Borough Council. You will need to create an account on the council’s admissions portal and submit your preferences by the published deadline.

Reception applications
The main application round for children starting Reception in September closes in 15 January 2027. Exact dates are set by Rochdale Council each year and published on their website and in our Term Dates / Calendar pages.
We strongly encourage families to attend an open event before applying.
In-year transfers
If you are moving into the area or wish to transfer your child during the school year, please contact the school office first. We can advise on current vacancies and the formal application process.
Appeals
If your application is not successful you have the right to an independent appeal. Information about the appeals process is provided by Rochdale Borough Council.
